St.Jude’s English Medium Higher Secondary School was founded in 1981 by the late Rev. Dr. Jose Thachil. It is located at Karanakodam, 1km west to Thammanam in Cochin Coportion. It is a Christian minority, unaided, state syllabused school, managed by the vicar of St.Jude’s church Karanakodam of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam/Angamali. St.Jude’s vision of education has to roots in the inspiration of its founder Rev. Fr. Dr. Jose Thachil. His aim was to serve all sections of the Karanakodam locality irrespective of their caste, creed economy status.
We derive energy and guidance from the lives of Jesus Christ, our heavenly patron St. Jude’s and rich cultural heritage of our country. Our motto is “Gain wisdom fir Future”
Glimpses of the past
1980 Jan 20 : Laying the foundation stone of the school by Rev. Dr. Jose Thachil, Vicar St. Jude church Karanakodam.
1982 may 30 : Solemn inauguration of the nursery school by Msgr. George Manikanparambil-Chancellor of Archdiocese of Ernakulam.
1983 June 15 : Standard 1 was started.
1984 April 19 : The lower primary section of the school was granted recognition by Govt. of Kerala.
1987 April 17 : Received permanent recognition order for standard 3.
1990 Aug 25 : Unexpected demise of our Founder Director Very Rev. Dr. Jose Thachil.
1995 June : Upgradation of the school- Inauguration of UP & HS.
1998 March : SSLC exam centre was sanctioned.
2006 Feb 6 : Blessing of Jubilie Memmorial Block by Mar. Thomas Chakiyath and inauguration by Sri. Dominic Presentation, Hon. Minister of Fisheries and sports.
2011 Dec 19 : Smart class [Educomp] started.
2013 Aug 25 : Blessing of Rev. Dr. Jose Thachil Memorial Auditorium.
2014 July 21 : Installation of new sound system and CCTV camera in all class room.
2015 June : Introduction of banking system for all money matters.
2015 July : Introduction of SMS system.
